Full set of the Text of Light concert at the International Rotterdam Film Festival in 2005. A twenty-minute excerpt was previously released, in a different mix, by Room 40 as "Rotterdam1." This was one of the few Text of Light concerts where we showed two Stan Brakhage films simultaneously while playing; this proved to be controversial, since many festival-going film purists thought it was sacrilegious for us to attach sound to what are ordinarily silent films to begin with, and to juxtapose two at the same time was even more outrageous. The festival scheduled a separate program of the five films we used screened consecutively, as a normal film program. We always maintained that what we were doing was a mixed-media presentation and not making a live soundtrack to a film, and in the end the festival's decision to do a separate film screening helped to underscore this distinction. The films were: Star Garden, Creation, The Garden of Earthly Delights, Jane, and "..." {Ellipses] Reel 4.
